When using Textbox.io as your editor, you may of may not have noticed that it’s no longer possible to embed pictures in the Community Description.

Ephox removed this functionality with a good reason, see statement of IBM and Ephox regarding this functionality:

“When using Textbox.io, local images are not allows in Communities (this is different from the EditLive integration). Images are allowed only in
Wikis, Blogs, Activities and Forums.

There are technical reasons for this, explained by Ephox in a previous enhancement request. The reason for this is because, unlike blogs, wikis, forums and other applications, the Communities app has no way to store files or images itself. Our solution with our EditLive! integration was to use the Files app instead as an image data store when an application didn’t support image storage itself. However, this came with some undesirable side-effects (aka bugs) so we chose not to port it for our integration with Textbox.io (our JavaScript editor) and Connections. Basically, this feature was the one where we received the most issue reports with EditLive! and there were some Connections limitations we couldn’t change.”

Therefor, we cannot add embedded images anymore in the Community Description. You can add images by adding them by source.

There is a discussion @GreenHouse regarding this issue and there was a suggestion for 2 different solutions solutions:

a) Use the new Rich Text Widget as the Community Description

b) Change the Community Description edit into a Rich Text Editor.

For now…. no solution !!
