IBM Connections 5.5

Here are the highlights for the newly released Connections 5.5. Not all will be mentioned, only the important ones.

New User Experience theme: more IBM Verse style.

Communities

Application in Communities are responsive and can be moved around between columns.

Even the column layout can be changed by the owner. From 2 to 3 column, with or without a banner.

Rich text content is now available to embed content from other sites.

And now you can even change the application ( widget ) name in whatever you like.

Human Resource Community

Totally fit for the purpose: Human Resource and Sales.

Events

Its now possible to directly add events to your personal calendar by ICS.

Security in Communities

Private Communities can now be discovered without exposing the Content.

Moving Communities

It’s now possible to move a Community to a sub-community and vice-versa.

Restricted mailing from Communities

You can restricted who can mail to Community members and owners.

Realtime Alerts

You can now find in the header a alarmclock. When you push this button, a pulldown window will appear which shows you the latest notifications for you

New Type Ahead feature

In the new Type Ahead feature, the list is sorted by “Where You Have Been Recently”.

Boost Search Results

You can prioritize your search results to find content easier.

Rich Text Improvements

Much better editor and improved features. You can now also sort columns from imported Excel sheets.

Nested Folders

You can now create Folders inside Folders inside Folders.  🙂  YEAH !!

And this is available in Files, Communities and even in Filesync ( Desktop Connector ) for Windows and MAC.

Install Sync App from within Connections

You can now click on the Install Sync button to install the application.

File Details

You can now see all File Details without leaving the File content.

Office Save As Integration

Newly created Office documents can now be saved directly into IBM Connections.
